Google is already preparing for Android 15, as the internal code name that has emerged reveals. Once again, Google promises us a delicious treat for the Android iteration of the year 2024.

From version 1, Android has always had a name inspired by a dessert. From time to time there were also collaborations with major manufacturers, Oreo and KitKat were two such Android versions.

The upcoming Android 14 is internally codenamed Upside Down Cake and will be released this summer. But Google is already working on Android 15, and there is now a suitable dessert name for it.

According to this, Android 15 is referred to internally at Google as "Vanilla Ice Cream". As said before, the codename has no meaning with a dessert, but it's still a fun little Easter egg from when Android was a fledgling operating system.
