Xiaomi has also cheated a bit and partially throttled some devices. But not in the benchmarks, so of course the performance wasn't displayed correctly. GeekBench took this as an opportunity to remove Xiaomi from the benchmark as well.

Xiaomi has now spoken out after Android Authority asked the company for comment on claims that its devices throttle games but not benchmark apps.

Xiaomi has basically confirmed that it is throttling performance, but explained that it will continue to offer different performance modes:

"Xiaomi applies temperature control strategies to ensure an optimal product experience, especially in demanding applications that are frequently used over a long period of time. We offer three performance modes on many of our devices, allowing the user to adjust the balance between performance and energy efficiency. At the system level, all optimizations related to application performance take into account many important factors such as: E.g. power consumption, performance and thermal effects."
