iPhone completely dirty: professional cleaner reveals the problem areas of Apple cell phones
Julius Kaveckas knows his stuff, the owner of an Irish repair shop has had to clean quite a few iPhones thoroughly. What a lot of people don't know is that dirt isn't just disgusting, it also impairs the functionality of Apple cell phones. In a very informative video on the well-known YouTube channel "Insider", Kaveckas talks about it and reveals a number of tips and tricks (source: Insider).
The following openings on the iPhone are predestined for dirt and literally attract dust, skin oils and crumbs:
Lightning Port: The iPhone's charging port offers the most protection as it protrudes deepest into the phone. Above all, dust, lint and crumbs can be found in the opening. If all this is not removed, the iPhone can no longer be charged correctly in the future because the cable is not properly seated. Eventually, over time, more and more dirt gets pushed together and compressed inside. I can confirm that I too had the same problems with my old iPhone 5 after a few years. Loudspeaker openings: Now it gets really disgusting, because here is a waxy mixture of skin oils and dust, very similar to the consistency of earwax. Mute button: This switch on the iPhone looks similar, but it is sometimes so dirty that you can no longer switch between loud and mute. However, very few customers complain about this, probably because they have never used the switch. Earphones (loudspeakers): In addition to the waxy consistency, the earphones now also have make-up residues. Over time, the volume decreases to the point where users have to reach for an extra headset in order to be able to make a call at all.How is cleaning done?
But how does the professional get all this cleaned up again? The most important tool is a so-called scaler. a what? Dentists are familiar with this type of professional toothpick, but even those who are not medical professionals will find such tools on Amazon and Co. (view scalers on Amazon). The coarsest dirt is carefully removed with the pointed hook. With the Lightning port, the final use of a vacuum cleaner is usually sufficient. The other openings have to be helped with a brush and isopropanol (rubbing alcohol). The liquid softens and dissolves the dirt, after which physical cleaning can take place.
By the way: Anyone who thinks that only real scumbags let their iPhones "rott" like this is wrong. According to Kaveckas, they're ordinary people's iPhones, so there's nothing to be ashamed of. Now that you know the weak points, you might be able to clean them up a little sooner.
