Google Pixel 7 gets a smaller display â is that enough?
With the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, Google has launched two excellent smartphones that have unique functions and are offered at attractive prices. With the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, the successors are already announcing themselves. First details sound promising. But more has to happen.
Google Pixel 7 expected with smaller display
The Google Pixel 6 is a great smartphone. It comes with the company's new high-end processor, has one of the best cameras, has a large battery and masters many software tricks that make your everyday life easier. But there are two major downsides: the smartphone is incredibly heavy for its size and it's not compact at all. Although the 6.4-inch display is smaller than the Pixel 6 Pro's 6.7-inch panel (for review), the Pixel 6 is almost as heavy and large as the Pro model. That's exactly what Google has to change with the Pixel 7 - and that's probably planned:
The Pixel 7 needs to get smaller and lighter. Comparable smartphones like the Galaxy A52s 5G look like absolute lightweights, although they are actually very similar. So Google doesn't just have to install a 0.1-inch smaller panel , but also minimize the design and lose a lot of weight. Various manufacturers show that this is possible. We can only hope that it comes to that, because then the normal Pixel 7 would be a real insider tip.
What makes the Pixel smartphones so special:
Before that comes the Google Pixel 6a
While the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are expected to come alongside Android 13 in the fall, the Pixel 6a should come before that. Although it is officially a smartphone that is cheaper than the Pixel 6 and is supposed to attack even more in the middle class, the high-end processor from Google should still be used so that it supports all important software features. The presentation will take place soon, and then it will be seen whether the smartphone will be a bit smaller and lighter.
