{Disarmed} Is it worth moving on an electric scooter with the light at this price? we make accounts
Xiaomi scooters are the best sellers in Spain and in many other parts of the world . Now, as the name suggests, these need electricity to work. The price of energy and fuel continues to rise . Will it still be worth moving around on an electric scooter? We do numbers.
Many factors to consider
Although there are many factors to take into account in the maintenance of a scooter, today we will focus on what it costs just to recharge it.
This time we will use the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3 as an example. This has a 7,650 mAh battery, a voltage of 36 V and takes between three and four hours to recharge.
According to Endesa, a 6,400 mAh and 36 V electric scooter consumes 0.2304 KWh. Making a simple rule we have obtained that the Xiaomi scooter consumes something more, specifically 0.2754 KWh.
Bearing in mind that the average price per KWh is approximately 0.4029 euros per KWh at the time these lines are being written.
We can say that recharging the scooter for approximately four hours, the cost would be approximately 50 cents per recharge . It seems little, but it is more than double what it was a few months ago.
In fact, Endesa makes its rule of thumb with the price per KWh at €0.14 , which right now would be the dream of any consumer.
We are counting down, because sometimes the chargers reach peaks of up to 48 V , although the batteries are not usually completely discharged either.
Indeed, it is a means of transport that continues to be profitable even with the price of electricity through the roof. The autonomy of these scooters of up to 25 kilometers, which in exchange is only two cents per kilometer.
However, as with other vehicles, to calculate the cost of total maintenance, other factors such as punctures or breakdowns that may arise should be taken into account.
Taking into account that renting an electric scooter in Madrid costs between 15 and 25 euros per minute , and the transport voucher costs more than 70 euros, it seems that it is still a very economical option to get around the city.
Always profitable on all short hauls
Vehicle | Fuel | travel 50 km |
---|---|---|
Motorcycle | €1.80/litre | €4.80 |
Electric scooter | €0.4029 / KWh | 50 cents |
If we compare it with gasoline, with current prices on the low side, it is still a much cheaper way, despite the fact that other factors that affect the autonomy of both vehicles such as weight, air, etc., should be taken into account. .which would only make the data worse on both.
