Windows 11: Android app support coming February for everyone
During the presentation of Windows 11, one feature attracted the attention of users: support for Android applications in Microsoft's latest operating system. It should be possible to download and install the apps via the Windows Store or the Amazon App Store. With Windows 11 not officially launching until October 2021, this feature is long overdue, at least for the general public.
Members of the Insider program have been able to try them since the end of October 2021. Microsoft has just announced the launch of public beta for Android app support, scheduled to begin in February 2022.
"Next month we're bringing new experiences to Windows, including a public preview of how to use AndroidTM apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, taskbar improvements with mute and unmute calls, easier Window sharing and the inclusion of weather in the taskbar, and the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player"
Panos Panay, Windows Product Manager at Microsoft
Of course, this is not the only innovation that Microsoft is planning with this update in February 2022. There should also be improvements to the taskbar. So now the weather widget will be accessible there while it will be possible to mute a call directly from this bar. In addition, a new button simplifies window sharing. Finally, the notepad and media player will also have a new design, specially redesigned for the occasion.
Microsoft has not yet given an exact date for the release of this update.
