Mac update causes trouble: Popular app warns Apple users
If you use a Mac, you should be more careful with a future system update. The developers of the popular file hosting service Dropbox, who discovered incompatibilities even before Apple's announcement, are now warning in advance.
macOS 12.2 will be released in the next few days. This system version can still be used with Dropbox without any problems, but it is the upcoming macOS 12.3, which has not yet been announced by Apple, which is causing problems .
macOS 12.3: Dropbox warns of difficulties
The operators of Dropbox are currently providing information about this in an email or on their own website (source: Dropbox via AppleInsider). After the update to macOS 12.3, which is still in internal development at Apple, third-party apps can no longer open online files directly from Dropbox . Means: All files with the small cloud symbol must first be downloaded and thus transported to the local storage before they can be accessed - annoying.
Dropbox provides a small guide for this:
1. Open your Dropbox folder in Finder.
2. Double-click the file you want to open.
3. The file will be downloaded to your Dropbox folder and opened in a new window.
Another alternative: users can provide an online file for third-party applications. This can be done as follows:
1. Open your Dropbox folder in Finder.
2. Right-click the file you want to make available.
3.Click Make Available Offline.
4. The file will be downloaded to your Dropbox folder and can be opened with any third-party program.
The current Mac systems offer many new features:
Apple's update roadmap for the Mac
As Dropbox confirms, they are currently working on a bug fix. It should be available sometime in March . With a bit of luck, this will happen before the release of macOS 12.3 Monterey. Currently, one can assume that macOS 12.2 might be available this week. Shortly thereafter, Apple should then publish the first beta version of macOS 12.3.
