5G in the o2 network: OnePlus smartphones still get it
5G is still an insurmountable hurdle for many OnePlus smartphones in the o2 network. With the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T and OnePlus Nord it is still not possible to use the new mobile communications standard in the o2 network. But the problem should be solved soon.
While there was already a patch for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro last summer that enables 5G in the o2 network for the two flagships, the users of other OnePlus smartphones continued to look into the tube. And that is likely to continue for a few more weeks.
Because OnePlus has now promised that the 2020 models OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T and the onePlus Nord will still receive 5G support in the German o2 network in the first half of 2022. The only question is how many users will then have one of the devices.
"We are working on making the 5G experience possible for all users in Germany. Therefore, the OnePlus 9 series (with the OnePlus 9 and the 9 Pro), the Nord 2 and the Nord CE already have the technical requirements to use 5G in the German o2 network as well. The OnePlus 8T, the OnePlus 8 series (with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro) and the OnePlus Nord will follow in the first half of 2022."
