{Disarmed} Vivo V1 ISP announced
Vivo today announced its first proprietary Image Signal Processor (ISP). Vivo V1 is the name of the ISP and this will be used for the first time in the new Vivo X70 series. This also promises many new innovations.
To bring this new Vivo V1 chip to market, a team of over 300 engineers worked on research and development for more than 24 months, and the Chinese company has worked extensively with manufacturers of smartphone processors. This is to ensure that the Vivo V1 ISP works smoothly and without compatibility problems with the main processor.
The new V1 chip is said to offer high computing power, low latency and low power consumption. In addition to processing complex calculations at high speed, it can also process data such as GPU and DSP in parallel. Compared to the DSP and CPU, the Vivo V1 is said to have a massive improvement in energy efficiency even with a large number of complex operations.
Vivo has optimized the data storage architecture and high-speed read and write circuitry inside the chip to maximize simultaneous processing capacity. The chip is able to achieve a 32 MB cache with on-chip memory.
Vivo claims that the V1 ISP outperforms current flagship desktop processors in real-time, low-latency noise reduction and image insertion. When processing tasks with the same computational effort at high speed, the special algorithm in the Vivo V1 reduces the power consumption of the hardware circuit by around 50 percent.
Vivo has also worked with the Zeiss team to overcome technical limitations such as process and yield, and the glass lenses can now offer high light transmission, extremely low dispersion and thermal stability. The dynamic optical calibration process AOA is used to correct for the decrease in sharpness due to lens thickness and lens eccentric errors.
The China-based company has also introduced the SWC coating technology, which ensures that the reflected light is completely suppressed and the reflectivity is reduced to a minimum of 0.1 percent, which greatly improves the quality.
Vivo and Zeiss have also revised 140 color map performance and 3D color mapping matrix algorithms to adjust 262,144 parameters to make hue more accurate and saturation processing finer. As a result, the hue accuracy ΔE is increased by about 15.5 percent, resulting in more natural colors.
As already mentioned, the Vivo V1 ISP chip will be used in the upcoming Vivo X70 series smartphones, which will be officially launched on September 9th.
