{Disarmed} Tensor: Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with dual ARM Cortex-X1 and ARM Cortex-A76 cores, pure power for new Google Phones
According to the latest information, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will work with two ARM Cortex-X1 and ARM Cortex-A76 cores, supported by four low-power Cortex-A55 cores. Both smartphones will support the Bluetooth codecs aptX, aptX HD and LDAC.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are powered by Google Tensor, the company's first in-house SoC. While Google has not yet revealed the specifications of the tensor, the xda developers can already tell us more about it.
Last week's Geekbench entry is supposed to be real. Allegedly the entry contains numerous elements that match the Pixel 6 Pro from the source of xda-developers. This includes the build fingerprint, CPU frequencies, CPU clusters and GPU information for reference.
The Google Tensor is a tri-cluster SoC, just like the Exynos 2100 and the Snapdragon 888. However, the CPU parts of the SoC were read from / proc / cpuinfo, which fills the CPU. The cache levels are unknown, but Google built the tensor with two ARM Cortex-X1 cores, twice as many as the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 offer. These 2.8 GHz cores are joined by four Cortex-A55 cores, which are limited to 1.8 GHz and will function as tensor energy efficiency cores.
The tensor is also said to have two Cortex-A76 cores that are clocked at 2.25 GHz. ARM announced Cortex A76 cores three years ago, which seems strange on a flagship SoC released earlier this year. Since then, the company has also launched Cortex-A77 and Cortex-A78 cores, both of which offer better performance and lower power consumption compared to Cortex-A76 cores.
Google's Tensor will also include a Mali-G78 GPU. Unfortunately, the number of cores that Google has chosen remains a secret right now. In addition, the Tensor has an Exynos 5123 modem and is capable of HW AV1 decoding. The Pixel 6 series will also support the aptX, aptX HD and LDAC Bluetooth codecs. The DisplayPort Alt Mode is missing again, so that the Pixel 6 series has no video output.
