Problems with Android Auto and your Xiaomi? So you can fix it
Unfortunately Android Auto continues to present certain problems on some Xiaomi . Errors such as error 16 that prevent our smartphone from correctly linking to this Google vehicle system.
Still, these bugs are largely solvable. And it is that, in most cases the impossibility of using Android Auto through our Xiaomi is given by the dual applications themselves.
In view of this and taking as a source this interesting article from Mi Community , below we will explain how to solve two of the most common errors that we usually find when linking or connecting our Xiaomi to a car with Android Auto.
Fix Android Auto error on Xiaomi devices
One of the main errors of the type « An error has occurred » that we usually find when connecting Android Auto to our Xiaomi is related to Google Play Services .
In itself, this error shows the message « It seems that Google Play Services does not work at the moment «, making it impossible to connect Android Auto to our Xiaomi. To solve it we just have to follow the following steps:
- Go to Settings> Applications> Manage applications
- Once inside, click on the options through the top three dots and access the option «Show all applications».
- After that, we will search for Google Play Services and proceed to "Clear data" followed by Clear cache.
In addition, another error that we usually find in Android Auto after connecting our Xiaomi is the « communication error 16 «. This one, displaying the message « There seems to be a problem. When it is safe, disconnect and reconnect the phone »also has a solution.
Responsible for this is usually the dual MIUI applications . These create a certain conflict with Android Auto, showing error 16 and making it impossible to connect. For this we will have to deactivate the dual applications as follows:
- Go to Settings> Applications> Dual Applications
- Once inside, we access the options through the icon of a gear and click on «Delete dual application accounts». After that we will restart the terminal
This option, unfortunately, will eliminate our dual applications but allows us to connect our Xiaomi to Android Auto.

My problema is different. When I connect Redmi Note 9 Pro to my VW Android sustém, It starts to blink the UI and no screen mirroring happens. I have no dual apps and get no error message. Very frustrating, indeed.
ReplyDeletesame here Redmi note 8 pro
Deletesame here with Redmi note 8 pro 1 year with this try to solve and nothing. No more Xiaomi to me.
DeleteExactly same issue with Redmi note 8 pro. As a car I have 2019 Citroen Berlingo. When I connect phone to a car then for a moment it shows android auto welcome screen. After that it goes into endless loop (starts blinking, android auto, usb connection type) and it continues until I unplug the phone. Phone is basically not usable while this loop is going on, because you cant click anything, it just keeps blinking.
DeleteSince this problem has been going on for so long I dont understand, why it has not been fixed. The problem is 100% in phones software, last week I even went to a service and got my cars software updated, sadly this did not fix the issue. I have tried multiple other phones in the car and all of them have worked so far.
I am facing the same problem as you have mentioned. The car and phone screengo into an endless loop.
DeleteWere you able to find any solution for this?

I just solved the problem with the POCO M4 PRO on Suzuki SX4 SCROSS with the sugestion by using a 2.0 hub USB
DeleteThank you, thank you, thank you. The USB hub worked although I used a USB 3 hub. My usb 2 hubs didn't work. My Redmi Note 8 worked fine in one car but not another. I had tried a bunch of different cables and settings without luck for months.
DeleteNo need to install Android Auto.
ReplyDeleteIf Android auto no longer works on Xiaomi 8, update 12.x.x.x means; That Android Auto is already installed.
Plug the USB cable into the car and Android Auto is automatically activated.
We did all that circus but dint worked with latest version
DeleteI can't connect any of my Xiaomi 9 (Lite and T). I plug the mobile to the car and nothing.
ReplyDeleteI'm having this exact same problem. Its a nightmare!

DeleteWhen I had the stereo fitted the technician used a female USB lead in the back of the stereo. This allowed me to plug any usb cable into it.
I recently removed my stereo to have a look around the rear of the unit and decided to take out the female USB lead and plug my phone cable directly into the back of the stereo.
Android auto is now working as it should do with this phone. It seems the problem was the female USB lead!
Please let me know if others try and succeed.
I am using mi 11 lite 5g mobile... While using Android auto in my car with this mobile, after disconnecting the call, music plays in mobile instead of car automatically...
ReplyDeleteNot able to use Android auto on my Xiaomi note 7s, when I plus to car it only charges and android auto is deactivated.
ReplyDeleteDon't know what's the issue.
Is Redmi note 5 pro is compatible with wireless android auto?
ReplyDeleteHi, I solve the problem by deactivating dual apps. But...I do this: Going to Settings>Apps>Dual apps>(I created dual copy of random app, for example FB, accepting all suggestions and closing Settings) After that went again to Dual apps and tapped on "settings icon" on the right upper corner. On the submenu, chose "Delete dual apps' accounts". The phone will be restarted and ready to connect AA. Some important, I recommend to used original usb cable.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteWhen I connect my Xiaomi 11 Lite (MIUI 12.5) to Tata Nexon then it goes into endless loop (car screen shows, "Do you wan to connect to Android Auto" and phone screen asks to select the USB connection type) and it continues until I unplug the phone. Phone is basically not usable while this loop is going on, because I cant click anything, it just keeps blinking.
Can you please help, how to solve this issue?

DeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteI got Xiaomi 11i 5G which comes with 67W charger. When I tried to use my phone for Android Auto on my phone "Use USB for" starts flickering continuously. I formatted my phone to check if that helps. But no use. After trying many ways finally I got the working solution. My phone comes with 67W charging cable may be it is USB3. I used my old USB 2 cable (Mi Max2 charging cable) and it fixed my issue. Now I could use Android auto. I am surprised that company like Xiaomi missed compatibility testing of such simple thing. I am happy I could find solution for my problem
I was having this problem and used the charging cable I got with the phone. I was using an other usb cable from another device. It has resolved the issue

ReplyDeleteHello everyone.
ReplyDeleteFor the ones who are having connection problems on AA with their Xiaomi 11, I just want to inform you that this kind of material

is working fine for me.
Price with cost delivery into France included: 4€.
The downside is that it's a little big and sometimes needs to wait several seconds before the display of AA is allowed on your LCD screen car. For the rest what a relief :-)
ReplyDeleteI have a Xiaomi Poco X3 phone. AndroidAuto is not working on the phone since the last update. After connecting the phone, the phone does not say /I want to charge. I want a data connection/androidauto/ or I want to use the media library. I deleted the Android car with the updates on the phone and only the Google base is up, which is part of the system. I tried it with 5 usb c cables. I also tried deleting all the data on the android car.
Dear Developer!
ReplyDeleteIn the first week of September, after the update, my AndroidAuto connection disappeared.
I tried several of the USB cables. It's not the cable that's at fault.
When my phone is connected, the device only charges.
He threw a window earlier. It was possible to choose between charging, data transfer and media drives. This is not currently available.
This is unavailable when connected.
I reset the device. The problem was not resolved.
My car has a Bosch head unit.
http://www.suzuki-slda.com/SitePages/Home_Suzuki.aspx
I also updated and reset the head unit. Currently, my phone does not work with the device.
Huawei and Samsung phones work perfectly on the head unit.
I looked at all the software options.
My device used to work perfectly with the device.
Reading the forums, I got to where an Asian group member suggested a usb hub.
I tried the usb hub and it went up to the 13.0.3 MUI version.
Currently updated to this, it does not work.
During the repairs and updates, some changes were made to the system because although the charging is going on, the device cannot be sensed by the head unit.
with updates before 13.0.3, it was also possible to add my Home Assistant devices to the control center. Now that doesn't work either.
It does not store the tools inside. I have attached a video and a photo in this regard.

I would like your help.

Non so se hai risolto ma considerando la data del tuo intervento, penso e spero di si. Xiaomi 12, MIUI 14.0.5 global, Android 13 not connecting to the car infotainment system via USB cable. It connects via Bluetooth for phone calls, but nothing for Android Auto. Having also a Xiaomi 9T, that one has absolutely no problem connecting by cable, but once switching to Xiaomi 12, the connection is not there, regardless of the USB cable used (the one from 9T, or the original from 12). I tried with other cables, I got a partial connection with a cable from Huawei P30 lite, but it kept disconnecting. I tried also with 2 old hubs which were available in a drawer, without result. I ordered a hub 3.0, maybe this will help.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, once connected for the first time, Xiaomi 12 came with a warning that an update is available for Android Auto, but once that went through, nothing else, the car doesn't see the phone and the phone doesn't see the car (except for the Bluetooth phone calls connection).
Definitely it's a cable issue, since with 4 cables and 2 hubs nothing happened, then it worked partially with a 5th one.
Xiaomi 9T works fine even after updating Android Auto with the latest apk available (still beta).
Coming with a feedback: Xiaomi 12 can connect now to the infotainment system using a hub 3.0 and the original cable, or the cable from Xiaomi Redmi 9T, which now remains in the car. Not tested yet for a longer period, just enough to see if the car and phone see each other.
DeleteThere's also the possibility to use a wireless device plugged into the car USB port, which will allow the phone to connect to the media system without plugging it into the car USB. Of course the thing will cost a lot more than a USB hub, or a high speed data cable. The USB hub was the cheapest option. Not to mention that using the wireless option means faster battery drain, unless using a power bank during the trip.

ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with my brand new redmi 12 pro it won't connect to android auto in my E class Mercedes. I have tried different cables and none of them work . But if I use them on my old phone an Huawei p 30 I have no problems they all work. Even when I try the new cable that came with the phone it doesn't work. With one of the cables the screen flash on the phone but the car just says unable to start android auto . I have tried the work rounds with no joy IV also looked through the internet and it seems this problem has been going on for a few years is there any chance it will be sorted out or should I take the phone back!??

I was having issues with connecting my Mi 13 Lite with my Alfa Romeo Giulia (MY 2020), even though my old Mi 11 Lite connected without any issues. When I connect the phone with the USB cable, the car tries to connect and comes back with "the device doesn't support Android Auto." Tried different cables, etc, with no success. Tried enabling and disabling dual apps, cleared cache - nada.
ReplyDeleteI contacted Xiaomi support, and they came back with the standard "unable to reproduce the issue." Then I talked to Alfa Romeo support. They said it can't be an issue on the car side. A couple of days later, the Alfa service person contacted me and said that they identified the issue, which is on the phone - the phone needs to enable permissions to connect to Android Auto on the car, but the Xiaomi doesn't display this requirement. The service person sent me a guide on how to accomplish that:
1. On the phone, open Google Play Store
2. Search for Android Auto. This will display a "trying to set up Android Auto?" prompt above the search results
3. Click on that, and it will tell you to connect the phone to the car using a USB cable
4. Connect the phone. Now the Xiaomi will ask for the necessary permissions.
5. Grant the permissions. Now the phone will connect.
Thanks to Alfa Romeo support for going over and above to fix an issue with my crappy (and definitely last) Xiaomi phone.
Excellent article. It is Very interesting to read. I really love to read such a nice article. Thanks! keep rocking.
