Samsung Galaxy S6 & Galaxy Note 5 get security update
At the beginning of the month, Samsung rolled out a new security update for the almost five-year-old Galaxy Tab S2 . According to SamMobile, the company has now started rolling out a surprising new update for two of its best Android phones from 2015.
The new update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 models reportedly comes with a security-related stabilization code. In contrast to the Galaxy Tab S2, however, the update does not bring a newer security patch level for the 2015 flagship phones. They remain on the Android security patch from September 2018 and January 2019, respectively.
The updates are named N920SKSS2DTJ2 for the Galaxy Note 5 and G92xSKSS3ETJ1 for the Galaxy S6 and G928SKSS3DTJ3 for the Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge +. It is already available in a number of countries including South Korea, Europe and Latin America.
Unlike Samsung's latest flagship phones, which are guaranteed to receive three generations of Android operating system updates, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 only received two major operating system upgrades and security updates for three years.
