HTC: July 2020 was the worst month in terms of sales in the company s history

HTC just recently had one of its best months in nearly a year, but new financial data shows that July earnings plummeted.

HTC's business continues to shrink. The Taiwan-based company earned just NT $ 284 million ($ 9.6 million) last month, a decrease of 35.6 percent from the same month last year. This is also a 56.3 percent decrease from the NT $ 649 million ($ 22.1 million) reported in June 2020.

To make matters worse, July was not only the worst month of 2020 for HTC in terms of revenue, but also the worst month in the company's 23-year history.

Going forward, HTC's future seems to depend on its small VR business, which continues to show signs of growth. However, as long as this technology doesn't reach mainstream audiences, smartphones are likely to play an important role.

The release of the HTC Desire 20 Pro had boosted revenue in June, and another temporary boost is expected with the HTC U20 5G. The downside of the coin is that both products are restricted to Taiwan.
