Finally a breath of freshness in GoPro. Hero 9 will definitely be different from its predecessors
GoPro Hero 9 is coming, and we may have just met the biggest news in this sports cam. It will be a much larger front screen, probably with the frame preview mode. Finally!
Each next generation of GoPro cameras is more and more refined, and the latest GoPro Hero 8 is practically the ideal of a small sports cam. In the latest installment, the manufacturer has allowed us to opt out of any external enclosures. Not only that, the camera itself is waterproof and shockproof, it still has leaves to integrated mounting system accessories.
During the GoPro Hero 8 test, I wondered what else could fit into such a small equipment. Subconsciously, I felt that GoPro was slowly reaching the ceiling, and subsequent generations could not be a revolution. The latest leak suggests that I was wrong.
GoPro Hero 9 with a front screen for preview
A photo of the GoPro Hero 9 camera front panel just leaked into the network. It looks very similar to GoPro Hero 8, but you can clearly see a larger indentation on the front screen. Just look how the LCD screen looks in the current GoPro Hero 8.
The small monochrome display shows the basic set of information, including the recording mode, but does not give a preview of the frame. The display in GoPro Hero 9 is not only much bigger, but also more prominent on the housing. Immediately there were speculations that Hero 9 will see a front screen with a preview of the frame.
GoPro cameras due to their miniature size, very high quality recordings, great stabilization and all resistance are a popular choice as vlogging equipment. In this respect, however, they have one major drawback, namely the lack of image preview.
Until now, vloggers have turned a blind eye to this, because the very wide viewing angle meant that even with quite a messy framing, the face remained in the frame. The screen, however, gives a completely different comfort of recording, which even the producer is aware of.
The latest generation of cameras, GoPro Hero 8, works with the Media Mod kit, i.e. the accessory system. One of them is the external screen. A set with such an addition looks quite shabby and loses its compact nature.
GoPro simply has to show the camera with the front screen equipped with a preview.
Most of the most important GoPro competitors - including those who have been copying the manufacturer's solutions for years - are experimenting with the front screen more and more boldly.
Take, for example, a proposal from DJI, probably the biggest competitor of GoPro. Her sports cam is DJO Osmo Action. Please, preview how you look.
It is also pushing elbows, extremely popular Insta360 One R called the "GoPro killer". Do you want a preview? You're welcome.
Competitors have already overtaken GoPro in terms of functionality in the previous generation of equipment, and GoPro does not like to be behind. The front screen of GoPro Hero 9 makes a lot of sense.
Finally a breath of freshness in GoPro. Hero 9 will definitely be different from its predecessors
