Poles from PlayWay create The Pope: Power & Sin - a game about the pope s sins
PlayWay got a taste of controversial video games of questionable quality. After the announcement of the game about Jesus Christ , the simulator and simulator bum thief came time for the Pope's study and bedroom. The Pope: Power & Sin was presented on the first trailer.
PlayWay is a quiet giant of the Polish gaming industry, which publishes, co-creates and finances a lot of well-selling projects every year. The investor has been a great success thanks to such brands as Car Mechanic Simulator, House Flipper, Cooking Simulator and Ultimate Fishing Simulator. Krzysztof Kostkowski's company has more than 50 (!) Development teams under its wings, creating games, add-ons, smaller DLCs and ports, respectively.
PlayWay has made some really interesting, good quality products.
Let's take Lust for Darkenss - a brave thriller with strong elements of occult eroticism I'm playing on Nintendo Switch. Or the computer horror movie The Beast Inside, whose demo version made a really good impression on me. House Flipper, which is renovating homes, is also widely recognized and is constantly expanded and improved. Also, it's not that PlayWay is lacking gifted game developers.
The problem is that PlayWay is a company that avoids unnecessary risk. The investor is afraid to spend big money on big games. A good example of this is Agony - one of the most expensive projects co-created with PlayWay money - which in the premiere period was not as well received as could be expected. That is why the Polish company likes to come back to safe "simulators" - a gully, a drug dealer, a mechanic or a key. Low production cost, low price, predictable profit.
The latest project created with PlayWay money is The Pope: Power & Sin.
The Christ Simulator has not yet been released, but the company is already financing a second religious project. This time we will not play the role of a Messiah , but the head of the Catholic Church. As Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia), we will fight for maintaining and expanding power, while at the same time deriving handfuls of the privileges we are entitled to.
Lovers, poisoning, conspiracies, murders - all of this is to appear in the game, as well as managing provinces and church properties. At least, this is the trailer, which probably does not show real gameplay. The artificial effect of 3D animation created for the needs of an advertising clip until it spills out of the screen. I remembered the times of photorealistic cut- scene animations from the second PlayStation period.
PlayWay is looking forward to its premiere in 2020. The Pope: Power & Sin will debut on personal computers and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Forestlight Games is responsible for creating the game - a newly formed Warsaw studio that still can not boast of any released production.
