What does Doomguy keep on the desktop and where does the Fallout guide come from?
It tears enemies to shreds. He puts the demons in horror. He knows no fear, and hell trembles at every mention of him. Few people know about it, but Slayer also has a second face. He is a literature enthusiast, an avid player and a lover of fur animals. You will discover it by exploring its fortress in DOOM Eternal.
It is said that a man is recognized by his deeds. However, it is faster to get to know him after visiting his house or apartment. Sayings such a stall or Tomek's freedom in his house did not come out of nowhere. Milan Kundera himself wrote in the Unbearable Lightness of Being: A man who has so many books at home cannot hurt . It just so happens that Doomguy has an entire library. But I don't think I want you to know that.
The fortress at DOOM Eternal is digging gags and easter eggs .
The structure floating in Earth's orbit is the starting point for Doomguya. This is where Slayer spends his time when he is not cutting the demon saw. The fortress is his workshop, his armory, his warehouse, and - let's not be afraid to write it - his home. A private sanctuary that you should not know about. If you appeared in the fortress's doorstep, Slayer's reputation could be shattered. After all, even the largest harder one has this soft, sensitive side. Doomguy is no different.
By decorating the fortress, the creators of DOOM Eternal vented fantasy. The starting point, which we visit between missions, is full of flavors, gags and blinks of developers eye towards players. A careful observer will notice that Slayer's private quarters contain many objects that betray his more human, sensitive face. So I invite you for a walk around the fortress:
Doomguy chose PC Master Race. For this with three screens.
What does Slayer play? Despite the great popularity of consoles, Doomguy decided to be faithful to his roots. Hence the personal computer. Of course, according to trends, glowing LEDs. The backlight of the computer has been synchronized with the lights of the speakers, mouse and desk. Razer Chroma, iCUE Corsair or maybe something else? Well ... at least he chose blue instead of biased red.
On Slayer's desktop there are his videos and compilations
Using machine gun optics, I saw what Doomguy was holding on the desktop. I couldn't find shortcuts to any video games. Instead, I saw a folder with favorite fragments of murdering demons, as well as music compilations. I was captivated by a collection of avatars depicting ... shotguns. I have no idea who Daisy is. And for what Slayer needs her photos.
Was Doomguy a left-handed man?
His computer mouse does not rule this out. Slayer uses a non-profiled rodent, suitable for both right- and left-handed people. The demon killer gets a plus for a serrated roll, but the lack of a cable can shock traditionalists. However, Slayer goes with the times, so you should.
You shouldn't eat in front of a computer ...
But I doubt anyone would dare say it to Slayer straight in the face. At his desk we can find a cardboard with the remains of pizza, chips with takoyaki flavor (Japanese dish from octopus) and jelly beans with fruit flavor. So we can see that we are dealing with a typical, perfectly balanced player's diet. Only Dr. Peppera or Mountain Dew.
Retro fashion forever alive
Next to the powerful unit with three screens is the second, much more old-school equipment. This is where we can play the first Doom. Of course, if we find all the floppy disks needed to boot it first. These are one of the secrets carefully hidden by the creators in many different locations. I doubt you will find them all on the first pass. Good luck though.
There is a bag of food near the computer.
A careful observer will notice that there is a sack of rabbit food near the desk. The Binkies product suggests that Doomguy is dead in a cosmic fortress hovering over planet Earth alone. Unfortunately, the nearby cage is completely empty. Her tenant can be found in the Slayer database, but I won't tell you the exact location. Look around a bit at the lower levels.
Nobody can resist cute furry animals
Did I mention that Slayer also has this more sensitive, caring side? The best proof of this is the portrait hanging in one of the rooms of the fortress. We see Doomguya holding a beloved rifle in his hands and a (maybe no less beloved) bunny. There is no doubt that pointed-eyed is someone really important to the main character.
Colorful magazines? Of course
Slayer subscribes to at least several colorful periodicals. Their covers themselves are a series of great gags. Doomguya magazines cover the topics of cooking dishes from demons, caring for weapons, tolerance and openness to demons. References to Fortnite, Dragon Ball and popular memes are visible to the naked eye. Great flavors to be captured on a larger scale (click on the graphic).
For a longer break, books will work better
Colorful magazines are one thing, but Doomguy also has a collection of real-world literature. His library is another series of great jokes, allusions and language fun. References to classic literature, other video games and contemporary pop culture are clearly visible. By the way, I wonder why Slayer needs a guide to Fallout crypts and a guide to survival in a post-apocalyptic world.
… and much much more.
This is only part of the collection and personal items belonging to Slayer. I don't want to reveal all the surprises. However, it is worth looking around the fortress, making new discoveries on your own. Because although the Doomguya base is just an addition to a great, fast and demanding campaign, it is a successful variety. In addition, it's nice to know that somewhere above our atmosphere is Slayer, watching over the security of the Earth. At least earthly rabbits.
