We are afraid of masts, but we like our operators. UKE research shows how we use telecommunications

We are afraid of masts, we pay an average of PLN 52 a month to telecoms and use the Internet less. A new UKE study shows how we use telecommunications services.

70.5% people surveyed by the Office of Electronic Communications declared that they use the internet. Interestingly, this number is smaller than the year before, when it was almost 73 percent. respondents admitted to even occasionally surfing the net

Everyone is sitting on the cells.

The survey is dominated by mobile internet users (91.2%), only 39.7% use landline internet. respondents. No wonder then that over 90 percent. interviewed people admit that they use a mobile phone. Although most of them (75.6 percent) declare that they have a small life command center in their pocket (read: smartphone), as many as 23.7 percent. boasts of having a traditional cell phone. These numbers will be slightly less surprising when we check that seniors (people over 60 years old) constituted as much as 29.3 percent. respondents. If age issues are checked, it is found that more than 90 percent. people under 44 have a smartphone.

We use the Internet on phones most often, browsing websites (79.5%), social networking sites (69.4%) and using messengers (68.5%). The use of banking applications is also surprisingly popular (53 percent).

We are satisfied with our operators.

By asking a lie about the popular opinion about our Polish malcontent nature, we mostly declare satisfaction with the services of the operator we have chosen. The majority of respondents were Orange users, although all four were well represented. When asked if they would recommend their operator to friends or family, the respondents mostly said yes (58 percent in the case of Play and T-Mobie, 56 percent Orange and 55 percent Plus). We praise the tailoring of the offer to our needs and the reliability of connections the most. We mostly complain about poor coverage.

On average, we spend PLN 52 a month on the pleasure of using a mobile phone (the record holder declared PLN 500 and one can only hope that one zero is a typo). The vast majority of respondents pay under subscription - 66.2%, 28.4% chose the card, and only 5.2 percent declares using the mix offer. For the most part, we believe that the amounts we pay for electronic communications are not a heavy burden on our budget.

Security? It's complicated.

When asked about the risks of using digital media, respondents worried about easy access to inappropriate content (26.1 percent), the transmission of unconfirmed information (26 percent), and ... inappropriate media vocabulary (21.2 percent). Worrying is the fact that there are no more serious problems on this list, such as data leaks, scams and cyberbulling. When asked about possible dangers associated with using the network, they mainly pointed to the risk of identity theft (43.2%), phishing out logins and passwords (39.7%) and the danger of contracting (38.3%).

I am glad that as much as 89 percent declares that online privacy is important to them. As much as 28 percent people claim that they do not share their data on the network at all, and 52% declares that if he does it, he does it consciously. It is a pity that the study did not include questions a little better checking how this good self-esteem relates to reality.

These terrible communication masts.

Respondents were also asked whether they would consent to the construction of a telecommunications mast 200 m away from their place of residence. As much as 60.9 percent people said no. This is primarily due to fear of the negative impact of such an installation on health. As much as 52.3 percent people believe that the radiation emitted by cellular antennas and other transmitters causes diseases such as cancer. Only 34.3 percent people have a different opinion, of which only 7.6 percent people are strongly convinced that such fear is unreasonable.
