We know when, we don t know why. The new POCO smartphone will debut in February
Pocophone F1 made a real sensation on the market and fans are eagerly awaiting its successors. Now that we know the date of his debut, there is only one question left - why?
The future of the second generation Pocophone was uncertain. Despite the sales success, the company underwent some internal perturbations - namely it was not known whether Poco would remain part of Xiaomi, or whether it would break away from the parent company and go "on its own".
A few days ago we learned that the second scenario came true. POCO, which has been a separate brand for a long time in Europe, has officially become an independent company (although of course it is still part of Xiaomi, it's just about legal tricks).
Shortly after this announcement, we learned that the successor of the first Pocophone will debut in the first quarter of this year, which has fueled a whole spiral of speculation regarding a potential release date.
Poco saw the spiral. And instead of adding oil to the fire, they wrote simply:
The new Pocophone will debut in February 2020.

The official information gave the profile of the Indian branch of POCO on Twitter, because it is in India that the new phone will debut. We don't know its real name yet, but several sources give two versions: F2 or X2. F2 would be the most logical consequence, but as we know ... logical naming of products is not a strong point of consumer electronics manufacturers.
Pocophone second generation - what do we know about it?
I will say simply: nothing. No information that has been released to the Web so far is reliable enough to be mentioned.
However, it cannot be denied that POCO gen. 2 has a high bar.
The first generation was a kind of phenomenon - Snapdragon 845, 6/8 GB RAM and 64/128/256 GB of data space, battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh, a decent camera, and all for less than PLN 1,500. It will be difficult to beat it.
Not to mention how difficult it will be to beat what the rest of the market has to offer.
Pocophone 2? What for?
At the time of the debut, the Pocophone F1 beat most of the smartphones in its class in terms of specifications, especially CPU processing power.
Now, however, it is not difficult to buy a phone with powerful power, costing the same or little more than the first POCO.
So what could POCO stand out of the second generation? First of all, with the camera. Today it is not an art to wield strong components for a smartphone for PLN 1,500. The trick is to add a decent camera - few producers succeed in this art and here POCO has a huge scope to show off.
One thing is certain: without a solid distinguishing feature POCO will simply be lost on the market. Because although the Xiaomi sub-brand dropped one of the arch rockets (Huawei), the native Oppo quickly began to take over the part of the mobile cake that Huawei released. Not to mention how well other brands are doing, including even Samsung, which until recently offered much inferior devices at the same price as Xiaomi or POCO, and caught up with the mid-range rate last year.
We will see next month whether POCO will be able to stand out. It is not known, however, when the new POCO will fall into our hands, after all, February is the release date in India.
According to official information , we will have to wait for the debut in other regions, though ... I feel that POCO will appear at MWC 2020 at the end of February.
