iOS 14 will go on the same devices as iOS 13. Two tablets with iPadOS 13 will not get a new system

iOS 14, the new version of the Apple mobile system, is expected to hit all iOS 13 devices. Fortunately, considering the failure rate of the current version.

We expect the official presentation of iOS 14 only in June during this year's WWDC conference, but the first information about it was released to the network. And this is very good news from the perspective of the Cupertino company's clients.

iOS 14 is expected to hit all devices that have received iOS 13 .

Iphonesoft.fr has just shared such information. If these reports are confirmed, even this tiny iPhone SE from March 2016 will not lose support this year. The full list of devices to be supported by iOS 14 is as follows:

  • iPhone 11 Pro;
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max;
  • iPhone 11;
  • iPhone XS;
  • iPhone XS Max;
  • iPhone XR;
  • iPhone X;
  • iPhone 8;
  • iPhone 8 Plus;
  • iPhone 7;
  • iPhone 7 Plus;
  • iPhone 6s;
  • iPhone 6s Plus;
  • iPhone SE;
  • iPod touch (7th generation).

There will of course also be this year's iPhones - in 2020 we expect the release of the iPhone 9 (SE2), which is expected to appear in the spring with iOS 13 on board and three or even four devices from the iPhone 12 line. These will debut immediately from iOS 14.

The presence of iOS 14 on all iOS 13 phones is great news for owners of all iPhones.

Last year's edition of Apple's system turned out to be ... problematic - just like iOS 11 two years earlier. The Cupertino company extinguished further fires in September and October, providing new updates for the races almost weekly every week. Only the latest update has stabilized this software at an acceptable level.

The fact that iOS 14 will not introduce revolutionary changes that would cut off the oldest devices in the form of the iPhone SE, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus means that this year's system may not introduce too many new features. Thus, it may turn out to be a service update - just like iOS 12 in 2018.

What about iPadOS 14 ?

Last year, iOS had a fork called iPadOS. Systems, of course, have much more connections than they divide, and the tablet software development cycle is so far the same as that of the smartphone, but this may change this year.

Just as iOS 14 will hit all devices with iOS 13, the successor of iPadOS 13 is to skip the two oldest tablets, i.e. the iPad mini 4 from September 2015 and iPad Air 2 from October 2014. iPadOS 14 will thus hit the following tablets:

  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro;
  • 11-inch iPad Pro;
  • 10.5-inch iPad Pro;
  • 9.7-inch iPad Pro;
  • iPad (7th generation);
  • iPad (6th generation);
  • iPad (5th generation);
  • iPad mini (5th generation);
  • iPad Air (3rd generation).
