Recently, I wrote about crash tests of drones with a human head . Tests were conducted on mannequins used, among others in NCAP crash tests. I wrote then that a drone falling from the sky can do great damage if it falls on the windshield of a moving car.

On the new BMW X5 Protection VR6, this scenario is not very impressive, because 28 mm bullet-proof glass can withstand even the AK-74 rifle fire, which officially confirms the VR6 safety level. The door panels and the roof are also bulletproof. BMW also strengthened the floor and trunk.

There is another drone attack scenario, namely a bomb attack. Fortunately, such operations were not used in the world, but unfortunately they are a real threat, e.g. from terrorists. The reinforced roof will withstand a bomb constructed of 200 g of C4 material. Of course, the chassis is also explosion-proof, and BMW declares that the car will come out unscathed even after a grenade explosion.

It's all in the car, which does not differ in appearance from the civil version.

From the outside, the BMW X5 Protection VR6 can easily be mistaken for the standard version of X5. What's more, the reinforced version has retained even very good driving parameters. The 4.4-liter V8 engine, known from the M50i version, generates 523 horsepower and a torque of 750 Nm. A hundred on the meter appears after 5.9 s, and the maximum speed is electronically limited to 210 km / h.

Reinforced tires are stretched on twenty-inch rims, which maintains driveability even after a puncture and after complete loss of pressure. In addition, the car has a fireproof cover for the fuel tank, and the tank itself has the function of "self-healing", i.e. patching small punctures.
