Microsoft at Gamescom - the most interesting news from the Xbox camp
During Gamescom 2019, Microsoft organized its own gaming and Xbox One presentation. Below you will find the most interesting trailers that were presented on this occasion in Cologne.
There were no major surprises. The largest part of the presentation concerned Gears 5 and the multi-person aspect of this production. During the panel there was also a place for a Polish accent, in the form of the horror film Blair Witch. However, if you were counting on any materials about the new Halo or the new Fora, you will be disappointed. Which does not change the fact that Microsoft has presented a lot of interesting materials and everyone will surely find something for themselves among them. Personally, I'm curious about GreedFall, a cRPG in the style of BioWare from the Mass Effect trilogy. First things first:
Blair Witch - Polish game from the creators of Layers of Fear
https://youtu.be/ek0Y0Pff9WI
Blair WItch is the latest project from the Bloober Team studio. The crew recently gave us the horror Layers of Fear with the addition, as well as the futuristic thriller Observer. Now Poles have the opportunity to prove themselves under a very popular license, which is Blair Witch. The first film made from the hand turned out to be a great box office success. I wonder if the game will follow in his footsteps. On the first materials, the design looks really atmospheric.
Gears POP! - a well-known brand is crumbling on smartphones
https://youtu.be/73GdE7p10X0
Gears POP! comes back from out of being. The production announced a few years ago will soon land on Android and iOS. Producers still do not present bold parts with gameplay. Instead, we have a "funny" movie showing the characters of Gears of War reminiscent of POP! Figures, as well as scraps of the game shown on the final roll with the release date. I'm not overly excited.
Wasteland 3 - a strong turn in the X-COM direction
https://youtu.be/FJmfgaJKs4I
I have the impression that in the third part of Wasteland, the fight has become even more important, and the gameplay draws more strongly from the classics of turn-based strategies such as UFOs or XCOM. At the same time, producers are exchanging desert wasteland for frozen ruins, which will be a great change compared to the second part. I hope that this does not overshadow the narrative and the role they play in the series of dialogues and statistics.
Empire of Sin - another turn-based strategy
https://youtu.be/tcHqbLwAWx8
Wasteland 3 is not the only production focused on turn-based confrontations with the enemy. Empire of Sin combines hiding behind shields, skills and the battlefield mesh with the climate of the American gangsters of the 1920s. Prohibition, cigars, Chicago, hats and ties - we all know the atmosphere well. In addition, unlike many turn-based strategies, Empire of Sin has a really nice visual layer. After all, I wasn't kidnapped. Probably due to the fact that we have a lot of turn-based production lately.
Vigor - a new survival game available for free now
https://youtu.be/9jG8JAVl8t4
The game is the work of people who worked on the (not) famous DayZ. Vigor combines elements of classic PvP with building a base and searching for better equipment. Anyone interested can download Vigor from the Xbox One console, from today completely free. If the price of $ 20 is displayed next to the game, it means that you have to wait a few hours to implement the update transforming the title into a fully-fledged Free2Play.
GreedFall - cRPG in the style of Mass Effect and Dragon Age
https://youtu.be/cX0UAUTX3-Q
GreedFall developers do not hide their inspiration with BioWare games. That is why their design is supposed to be very similar to Dragon Age or Mass Effect. Battles, dialogues, experience levels, skills, comrades and romances - GreedFall will offer everything that you remember both BioWare trilogies. The climate of brutal colonialism will be imposed on it, mixed with ritual fantasy. I will definitely give this game a chance. At least because of the hunger for a good role-playing game.
The Surge 2 - Dark Souls in the world of SciFi
https://youtu.be/CL1PsNXRGD0
Getting The Surge was good. Not outstanding. Not amazing, but it was pleasant, and the degree of challenge encouraged further attempts and approaches. If the continuation shown at the Microsoft conference will be at least at the same level, we will get a nice gift in anticipation of the next productions of the creators of Dark Souls. I don't expect anything outstanding, but I will definitely give The Surge 2 a chance.
Gears 5 - horde mode (of course) is back
https://youtu.be/vYjKYNvAm4s
https://youtu.be/j6UzRfeQN9c
The Horde is one of the best, if not the best, online mode for the Gears of War series. Players arm in arm defend themselves against the next waves of enemies, while expanding their defenses. Great fun, especially with a pack of friends connected via the Internet. In Gears 5 my favorite horde will return. It looks really, really good. I especially accepted the special skills of individual heroes.
Metro Exodus - the first extension is coming
https://youtu.be/L_n3sQPQQ7s
The Two Colonels is the first great extension to the Metro Exodus shooter. The addition will take us to Novosibirsk and allow you to use a completely new weapon: the flame thrower. After the trailer, it can be thought that the extension will put emphasis on intense, frequent fights in narrow underground corridors. I am not delighted with this. The Exodus was just an open space, so different from what we experienced in the previous two installments of the series.
