Figma has changed the way I create projects. It was good, and with plugs is even better
Figma is a program that has become a sensational alternative to Adobe Photoshop. The better, that it is free and really intuitive enough that for a specialist in the field of UX, UI or even for beginner graphics very easy to master.
Sam started to use Figma almost shyly two years ago, but since then I have implemented many projects here for us in the Spider's Web Group as well as for other clients.
Not so long ago we used a few different graphic programs, combining their best features and mixing selected options with a lot of time and a few errors that resulted from the lack of communication between the creators.
Then figma appeared and everything became simpler. Previously, to edit vectors use Illustrator, web projects were implemented in Photoshop, on many files with no version history. The effects of the work had to be exported and sent to the client in the form of attachments to an email or with the help of a virtual disk.
In Figma, everything is in one place. There, we switched part of even the simplest graphic works, and in our team more and more people began to notice its amazing potential.
It turned out that Figma would support our needs
Some of the tools that we used to work had a lot of shortcomings, eg a few people could not work on the project at the same time, and monitoring their work was virtually impossible.
With time, it turned out that the outline drawings in Figma, which were created with the participation of several graphic designers, do not look like an introduction to work, but quite serious projects that can be presented to the client.
Figma has proven that it can simplify the entire design process and improve cooperation between several specialists in various fields.
Teamwork gained efficiency and, above all, it was much faster. A natural consequence was the abandonment of some of the paid programs in favor of one tool somewhat similar to Sketch.
Projects in the cloud
The whole merit is that Figma works in the cloud, on every operating system and in every search engine.
Access to the project, its consistency and, above all, the lack of necessity to share it with a different path, convinced even more than the fact that the only option paid is a package for teams.
There is no other such tool, so it would be a sin not to try for once.
Now it is difficult for us to imagine work without Figma, because it is used not only by graphic designers, designers and programmers, but even by the content department.
Figma is constantly developing and can surprise
Figma started as a start-up and from the beginning the founding of its creators was the development towards a huge tool for graphic work.
Fortunately, this is not done in the form of updates, but plugins that have become a real salvation for the industry. In this way, over the past year developers have devoted a lot of work to add some great possibilities that were announced a few days ago.
Stably, quickly and safely
It seems only a marketing trick, because Figma could have provided it before, but 40 new plugins are something that will certainly improve several processes and thus provide better stability, greater comfort and improve program performance.
For us, a few of them are crucial, including the introduction of maps without the need to perform screenshots (or other map creators).
What does it mean? Finally, work in this aspect will be much easier for us - I set the address in the plug-in, and Figma automatically generates a map in the project I am currently working on.
Another fantastic plugin will allow you to integrate Figma together with the Google Sheets software, and this will allow you to combine graphics and keep changing content. Other plugins allow you to add animation (Figmotion), change themes (Themer), change layer names, organize them (Rename) and more.
In addition, several other options are fantastic, such as the use of Time Machine, ie the analysis of the versions of the designed elements, adding graphics from Unsplash or using Viewporsts, where it is easier to design with regard to mobile first.
Will you have to pay for Figma plugs?
Fortunately, the creators of the company do not foresee the introduction of fees for the latest plugins and it looks like it will never change.
The assumption of the project was to add new opportunities only to improve the quality of the program, and not to feed on its users, which is really appreciated.
The more that Figma also wants to facilitate the independent construction of plugins by more advanced programmers and the expansion of the program in the fan community.
