The new Fujifilm SX800 monitoring camera promises to be the terror of drivers and ... privacy fans. The equipment works like the famous zoom from the CSI series Crime Crimes.
Do you remember these famous scenes from the CSI series, in which the crime department enlarged the photo endlessly to find traces of the victim?

Well, the new Fujifilm SX800 camera may not work so spectacularly, but its possibilities are intriguing. Just look at the zoom it offers.
Such possibilities will be available in industrial cameras.
Industrial monitoring after this premiere may look completely different than before. The new Fujifilm SX800 camera is equipped with a Fujinon lens with 40x optical zoom. The focal length in the full frame range covers 20 - 800 mm.
The camera software allows you to go further, because with the use of digital magnification with a multiplicity of x1,25 we get the equivalent of 1000 mm. Such possibilities will allow you to photograph license plates of cars from a distance of 1 km. The equipment films in Full HD.
The camera is also equipped with a new stabilization system combining mechanical and optical stabilization technology. The gyroscope built into the device is very sensitive, and the manufacturer ensures that it catches even the smallest vibrations.
Inside the casing, bearings with ceramic elements were used to ensure a smooth movement of the lenses with minimal friction.
Despite such a huge optical zoom, focusing takes only 0.3 seconds.

This is possible because the AF system is based on the last, smallest and lightest lenses in the optical system. Moving them is not as complicated as in a conventional system, when you need to move large lenses on the front.
The matrix has a 1 / 1.8-inch diagonal, which is more or less the same as in high-end compacts or the best photographic smartphones. The sensor has been optimized for operation not only in visible light, but also in a wider spectrum, including light from near infrared. ISO sensitivity reaches 819 thousand.
Can such equipment hit our streets?
The producer does not reveal the price of the new camera in public, but he announces that it will go to the monitoring systems at the airports. The equipment will be available from tomorrow.
And how is the new camera falling on the background of typical consumer cameras? There are several designs on the market that far outperform the Fujifilm camera in terms of zoom. For example, the famous Nikon P1000 is a zoom camera with an x125 zoom, with a focal length of 24 - 3000 mm!
It must be remembered, however, that such cameras are usually plastic bodies intended for consumer use. Industrial cameras are governed by completely different laws and must meet other safety, strength, power and communication standards. The Fujifilm SX800 body is made entirely of metal and is very large: it measures 41 cm in length and about 15 cm in diameter. It weighs 6.4 kg, but it does not matter much in the case of an industrial camera.
The possibilities are impressive and I hope that this type of equipment will contribute to improving safety at airports and streets.
