Dry and then wet. My works talk to each other. And they get along
A few years ago, it seemed to me that the Internet of Things would be an abstract and completely strange concept for an ordinary person. Recently, however, I saw great tools that will explain to even the largest layman how the majority of everyday equipment will function in a few years. This is already shown by the iRobot equipment.
A few years ago I saw that the Internet of Things would come any day. It was the first time that the vacuum cleaner iRobot Roomba 980 showed it to me. It was my first robot that I could configure from within the application, and even turned on when I was out. Then it was a huge shock for me, and today ... I just got used to it.
It happened because my flat was full of intelligent devices in that time. And I'm not just talking about Android TVs or Google Home speakers. My apartment is equipped with Philips Hue bulbs, LG fridge connected to Wi-Fi and a washing machine, to which I can add new programs using a smartphone with NFC. Soon, I intend to equip myself with air conditioning with smart functions and a dedicated application.
Unfortunately, these devices can not talk to each other
It does not mean that anything works badly. Simply, each of the equipment operates in a separate space. It's true that the fridge and washing machine (and future air-conditioning) will be able to be controlled by one application, while the other equipment is connected to the Google Assistant, but they do not cooperate at all. One exception is here Philips Hue bulbs, which match the color of light for my TV with Ambilight , but it is rather a nice gadget, not a really useful solution.
It is completely different with the latest robots iRobota , that is vacuuming model Roomba S9 + and mopujący Braava Jet m6 , which I had the opportunity to play for a while. If you want to learn more about them, I invite you to the text dedicated to them . Now I would like to focus here on one, seemingly small function, which completely changes the way using cleaning robots to the same extent as putting a work schedule or application control on the robots.
This something is the cooperation of two robots
It works very simply. When the Roomba i7, i7 + or S9 + robot has finished its work, it will send information to the robot that mops Braava Jet m6 . Thanks to this, the apartment will be cleaned up wet after the vacuuming. Everything without human participation. The user will not even have to remember to empty the vacuum cleaner regularly. The latest models of robots are equipped with a docking station, which sucks the impurities from the vacuum cleaner after the cycle. The sack in it needs to be replaced every few months, in my case every four.
The only user's duty is to replace the mopping pad and add water to the Braava Jet m6 robot. This is necessary because Braava Jet m6 is, after all, electrical equipment and should not constantly contain a large supply of water.
The world of cleaning robots has changed completely compared to the situation from a few years ago, when you first had to run Roomba, then empty it, then start Braava yourself and connect it to the charging. Because the previous model did not have a docking station.
I really like the fact that the cleaning robot market goes in this direction and does not even bother me that you will have to pay PLN 10,000 for a set consisting of Roomba S9 + and Braavy Jet m6. I know that in a while this solution will also go to cheaper equipment, and we will not remember how we could live without it. I am convinced of this because the same was true of the regular cleaning robots that only a few could afford only recently.
