Your car will pay for parking itself and choose the right charging station
The goal of intelligent electronics is to give us more free time. That we could think about other things than where to find a stop or how much to pay for fuel. Bosch is consistently investing in our time.
I think each of us can admit that electronics has changed the way we use vehicles. Even owners of older cars often and willingly use GPS navigation, which not only leads us to the goal, but also, for example, helps us avoid traffic jams or other difficulties on the road. And for sure each of us expects that this is just the beginning of facilities that IT will provide us with and the development of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry.
Bosch, for whom this industry is particularly important, used its Bosch ConnectedWorld 2019 conference to present some interesting new products that will soon appear in cars and on the roads. Artificial intelligence, blockchain and 5G cellular network in this case are not slogans being thrown to the wind - it is thanks to them and their imminent popularization that these solutions are possible at all. At least much easier, safer and cheaper to implement.
Your car will not only find the charging station most suitable for you. He will also take on the obligation to negotiate a price for fuel.
Bosch together with EnBW - a German energy company - is working on a solution to improve the charging of electric vehicles. Its foundation is blockchain, and the goal ... well, making life easier, however it does not sound.
According to the assumption, we have to stop worrying about finding the right charging station for us or payment for charging. The intelligent system is designed to propose the best station at the right time, reserve the time at the charger and pay for it using any means of payment indicated by us.
The system naturally also provides for direct cooperation - via the appropriate API - with energy suppliers such as EnBW. Thanks to this, our vehicle and charging station management system can negotiate appropriate charges based on such factors as the general availability of charging stations in the area or the energy itself.
Booking and payment use blockchain mechanisms, and SI algorithms will help us choose the right station. So, for example, the one in which there is a playground, because we are currently traveling with our children. Or one where you can get a vegetarian hot dog. Tests of this system are already in progress.
Not only loading, but parking.
The search for charging stations is still a certain abstraction for most readers and drivers from Poland. Certainly, however, each of us had problems finding a suitable place to park, especially in larger cities. Bosch and Siemens are trying to solve this problem too.
Both companies are working on a solution that uses blockchain and other mechanisms based on a distributed register system to facilitate finding the best place to leave our vehicle. The cars will establish direct communication with nearby parking lots and will autonomously negotiate the best prices.
Once we reach the selected parking lot, the Internet of Things sensors will recognize our vehicle and automatically let it in - without the need to download tickets and to prepare a coin to pay for the car park. For now, two such intelligent parking lots in Germany are being tested.
Software updates less irritating than in Windows.
Reading about all these new products you can get the impression that this is a distant future. Such things only in new and expensive cars. And if they do, then the industry will come up with something new. Yes, but ... after all, there is nothing to prevent these cars from developing by updating the software. In exactly the same way as our PCs, phones or televisions.
More and more car manufacturers are convinced to keep developing software in vehicles that have been in the hands of customers for a long time. Updates are carried out via the cloud in almost identical way to sending a new iOS to our iPhone. Already, Bosch boasts that his IoT solutions mediated updates sent to more than five million cars. So, however, it is possible.
