This is one of the most beautiful mobile games

I participate in the Elder Scrolls Blades early access tests. The mobile game of the creators of Morrowind, Skyrim and Oblivion is advertised as one of the most beautiful applications for smartphones and tablets. That's why I launched it on the iPad to show you every detail of the upcoming production.

The Elder Scrolls Blades begins with a catastrophe

Before you return to your homeland, the village you come from is on fire. The burning settlement can be seen from a distance and it will be later that it will be the main base and the starting point. First, however, we have to reach it, learning the basics of the game.

The trip to the settlement is a demonstration of the strength of developers from Bethesda.

The player breaks through the undergrowth, systematically approaching the fire-drenched agglomeration. The line location has been stuffed with details and ornaments. Bethesda flexes his muscles and shows in this way that creating a great, beautiful game for smartphones and tablets is possible.

On the way to the village we will fight our first duels.

The fight in TES Blades is based on a very simple mechanism. Holding the screen on the left, we defend ourselves with a shield or keep our guard. Holding and releasing the finger from the right side, we are waving a weapon. Added to this are special skills, displayed in the form of icons below the bars of life, magic and fitness.

The settlement is devastated and needs to be rebuilt.

With the use of gold and raw materials, the player puts useful buildings again. First, the seat of the authorities, then the blacksmith ... developing the village is one of the most important elements of The Elder Scrolls Blades. Further buildings unlock access to new gameplay mechanisms, such as making objects or enchanting weapons.

In the village, we can talk and collect tasks.

We move around freely. More and more NPCs come to the destroyed place with time, with which we can arrange a chat. Some of the residents will have tasks for us. Most of the missions will be carried out behind the walls, hunting for goblins or bandits. Sometimes, however, you have to do simple activity in the village itself.

Besitartiusz The Elder Scrolls Blades is a classic pain.

The game raises strong associations with Oblivion. The production for smartphones and tablets draws from classic fantasy. There is not this element of madness known from Morrowind, nor the Norse climate of Skyrim. Goblins, dryads, rats, wolves - the beginning of the game looks exactly like Oblivion, and even the screens of the interface increase the feeling of returning to the fourth, in my opinion, the average successful TES.

Of course, The Elder Scrolls must have dungeons.

It is no different in Blades. The first descent to the catacombs visually imposes. Unfortunately, with time it turns out that the underground uses the ready-made, repetitive elements of the environment. The mobile game consists of the same blocks, placed in different order. I would not mind, but the scenography of the surroundings repeats itself too quickly. A lot of diversity would be useful.

The modular nature of Blades can be seen especially in the Abbyss mode.

Abbyss is a separate module that sends the player's character to an endless dungeon. This has been divided into levels. The deeper we go, the harder it gets, but there are better prizes to grab. Unfortunately, the individual levels look identical similarly, which gives the impression of walking in a circle.

Being at the awards, TES Blades crates are a drama.

Bethesda has come up with the idea that she will make money on treasure chests that are already in the possession of the player. Have you discovered a large, golden, decorated chest full of loot? Excellently. Now you have to wait 3 hours to open it. Really. Of course, it is possible to speed up the process by spending the currency bought for real money. You have to admit that this is a fairly subtle way of begging for player funds.

The Elder Scrolls Blades is beautiful, but ...

I am not convinced that this is the prettiest game for smartphones and tablets I have ever seen. The new Shadowgun Legends also makes an electrifying impression. Blades is undoubtedly beautiful, but it is hardly a technological breakthrough. We're talking about evolution, not revolution. Which of course does not change the fact that a dozen years ago I would kill for such graphics on PCs and consoles.

Screenshots were taken on the iPad (2018).
