I fought my first fight after an hour of talks. BlazBlue Fighting: Central Fiction Special Edition - Review
BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition is the result of the creative freedom that veterans of the Arc System Works brawler got. This is a studio that is responsible for such hits as Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear. The Japanese decided to close the original BlazBlue trilogy, doing it in style.
BlazBlue is the most popular brawl series with characters in 2D, which exists today. Its creators boast of traditional, fully flat warriors composed of pixels. Such forms contrast strongly with three-dimensional backgrounds and graphic effects adorning blows, combos and powerful special attacks. Bijatyce, however, it is difficult to deny the charm. Especially when it is launched on the Switch's portable display (the game is also available on PC, PS3 and PS4).
In the fictional campaign, I fought my first fight after ... the hour.
The uniqueness of BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition highlights the information screen that appears the first time you run a campaign. The game warns then that before me, more than 30 minutes of dialogue scenes, with a very distant prospect of fighting. How different from the standard fights. From games where scriptwriters flee to completely irrational reasons why strangers, and often even allies, exchange blows. Joint training. Misunderstanding. Manipulation of the enemy. How many times have I rolled my eyes playing Tekken or Street Fighter.
BlazBlue is different. The developers wanted to convert a large part of the game into an interactive story (visual novel). Nobody here is happy about the characters, does not encourage them or encourage unnecessary confrontations. The creators of Arc System Works tell their original story at their own pace without overclocking every few moments. An amazing thing, considering the story campaigns of most modern fighters. On the other hand, a ton of text can scare away some players. It seems to me that they will give up BlazBlue after seeing the graphic or the cover in the store.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition is a production for Asian pain. With all its consequences. Women are half-naked, and they are shockingly generously endowed by nature. Little girls are fighting futuristic robots. The main character is a nieśozumły by anyone zawadiaka. You breathe in the air and feel Japan full. Thank God, the game is not as embarrassing and embarrassing as SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy . Even half-naked ladies hold a class here and have something important to say. Behind every warrior there is a story and no one has taken the case. Well, almost nobody.
2D Fighting is very, very, very technically complex. The tutorial is a duty.
The basic combat mechanism is based on four blows (light, medium, strong, special) and combinations created from them. Classic classics. Developers put on so many additional mechanics that initially it is difficult to find a lot of possibilities. A tutorial consisting of dozens of practical lessons is an absolute foundation. Without it, there is nothing to push to fight. This is not really Tekken, where a random combination of buttons will make the warrior have a chance to do something extra.
Feel that in Arc System Works they wanted to put the player in front of dilemmas. Recharged energy bar to use for a special attack, or lengthening classic blows? Use temporal character reinforcement, or keep them in the form of a single maneuver breaking through the enemy offensive? Use a double boost, or stay on the weaker, but longer single one? During the fight, the player must always think. It must be flexible. He must be aware of the possibilities and the system. Without this, the BlazBlue game does not make sense.
The game hides a lot of secrets. For example, after fulfilling certain conditions, the duel can be ended in the second round with ... one special attack. Whoever knows about it will use it. Who does not know will be painfully surprised. When does the Overdrive bar load? Under what circumstances does the Boost icon open? How many special attacks have I and opponent left? The player is given a lot of non-standard information to learn. Science is a big part of BlazBlue's experience.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition is definitely not a title for rookie warriors. From the very beginning, feel that the developers have stuffed a lot of mechanics and dependencies for the veterans of the genre. It was thought about players who simultaneously have in their head a combo sequence, the percentage of charging a special attack and the optimal moment of recharging. The game is full of love for a fight, but it is a rough, engaging and demanding love. BlazBlue does not turn to beer when visiting a friend. From this is the new Soul Calibur. Central Fiction is in turn a training ground for professionals.
He delights that almost 36 people are radically different.
If you played Tekken 7, you were definitely in shock when you first controlled Akuma. The powerful demon used a unique model of Street Fighter control, perceptibly different from Tekken. Well, BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition consists of a dozen such Akum. What a character is a completely different game philosophy. A completely different use of the special attack. Even the interface during the fight is often radically different, taking into account the unique character of the warrior.
Here again, the tutorials come with the help of the characteristics of each character. Thanks to individual training, we understand the combat model of each warrior. We will get to know the philosophy behind special blows. We will absorb the suggested clash technique. It is a pity that individual tutorials for individual characters are not as extensive as for example in Dragon Ball FighterZ from the same studio. It could be better in this field.
For BlazBlue, I threw Joy-Cony to the corner and bought Arcade Stick.
Twisting the double hemispheres with an analogy was extremely tiring on the Nintendo controllers added to the Switch. Joy-Cons are definitely not made for a brawl. Especially as hardcore as BlazBlue. That's why I bought 8bit to Arcade Stick. The gameplay has become more enjoyable immediately. The Wireless Arcade Stick did not make me a better player. As I got the stuff on the servers, I still get them. However, I do not sell my skin easily, consciously sticking the most difficult sequences of blows.
I am writing about the complexity and development of BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition, but it must be added that the producers also thought about novices. With them in mind, an alternative combat mode was created - Stylish - in which, by pressing a separate button, the heroes create effective combinations themselves and use powerful reinforcements and sequence breaks. If you want to go through the campaign, by raping one button and observing the impressive sequences on the screen - it is possible. It's nice that brawler veterans have thought about such a solution.
BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition is the most complex fight on the Switch at this time. For this one of the most demanding fights on all other platforms. Do not be confused by Japanese girls, colorful creations and anime stylistics. BlazBlue is a game for absolute strangers. At the same time, the title offers many different modes. The price-to-content ratio is very beneficial. Despite this, I do not think that it is a production for every warrior. If you have not previously had a BlazBlue or Guilty Gear series, consider purchasing twice. I do not want to listen to crying later that the game is more difficult than in Tekken.
The biggest advantages:
- Warriors in traditional 2D is an interesting springboard
- A very complicated, technical and multi-layered fight
- Giant differences between individual characters
- Stylish mode for beginners
- Many modes and additions
- A game from veterans for veterans
The biggest drawbacks:
- No English dubbing
- Slaughter of innocents on servers
- A clumsy, thickly sculpted interface
If EVO is associated with something more than just sports Mitsubishi, if you know the achievements of Arc System Works, you like anime and love fighting games, BlazBlue: Central Fiction Special Edition will be a great position.
