EA introduces the currency for real money to Battlefield V
Fans of Battlefield V knew that sooner or later the online currency will go to the online shootout. Thanks to her, EA intends to create new weapons, maps and game modes completely free of charge, financing the work of developers with revenues from micro-transactions.
Battlefield V is a shootout against which EA decided to apply a model of free add-ons and micro-transactions. Instead of a few paid DLC, the publisher wants to provide a steady stream of free content. This way, in Battlefield V, there is one new map, shooting range, a dozen new weapons and a Fire Storm - a battle royale module for 64 players. The critics of such a publishing model suggest that if DLC were paid, the new content would be more. Proponents, in turn, point out that thanks to the free content, the Battlefield community is not segregated.
Micro-transactions in Battlefield V were obvious. However, it is only now that they enter into force.
From 4 April 2019, each player involved will be able to spend real money in the game, turning it into the Battlefield currency. This is supposed to operate on similar principles as the company's cash register already in play, gained as part of the progress of the game and the implementation of challenges. We will be able to buy individual cosmetic items as well as their packages for the Battlefield currency. Skins for weapons, helmets, coats, trousers, even war colors on the face - we will buy all this for both the company's current cash register and the new Battlefield currency.
The Battlefield currency will also allow you to buy two additional product groups. The first of them is the so-called elite, i.e. elite cosmetic sets not available anywhere else. Such sets make up the whole, for example a unique soldier with his own appearance, behavior, soundtrack, emoticons and uniforms. EA informs that the first two elites will be soldiers Seamus and Ernst. Fortunately, apart from the unique appearance, characters will not be better or more effective than military rankers in any way.
The second group of products to be purchased for the Battlefield currency will be boosters. Thanks to them, the player will gain a bonus to experience points or immediately unlock the prizes provided for the current chapters; time-limited series of challenges that drive the Battlefield V community.
EA learns from mistakes. Battlefield V does not repeat the fatal decisions of the second Battlefront.
In a Star Wars-based space shooter, players were able to spend real money on cards that gave them real advantage on the battlefield. You pay more - you have stronger characters. Battlefield currency seems not to allow such a deal. Most of the items that can be bought for real funds are cosmetic items - skins, uniforms, vehicle paints and emblems.
Doubts can only arouse reloading of experience points. However, given the fact that BFV fans have long been pushed to the maximum level, this should not disturb anyone. Therefore, I think that in general EA is using a fairly decent fundraising model for the company with DICE, which probably will not bend fans faithfully and actively supporting the new Battlefield.
I belong to them myself, which is not easy at times.
